| | In the sixteenth year of his reign, spring, the first month of King [name], on the Wushen day of the first lunar month (the first day of the month), five stones fell in Song. Why is it said "first meteorite and then stone"? It means that the stones fell after being struck by a meteor. Within the four borders of Song, it is called Song. The term "houshu" refers to scattered words or expressions. It is about governance and administration. In this month, six yis flew backward over the capital of Song. This month, it was determined without specifying a day for the lunar event. Six yis flew backward over Song's capital; first counting, it is a collective term, referring to matters of governance and administration. Confucius said: Stones are lifeless objects; yis are creatures with a slight degree of awareness. Stones have no knowledge, hence they are recorded by the sun's movement; Yis are creatures with a slight amount of awareness, therefore they are associated with the moon. A junzi's attitude toward things is one of no compromise at all. Even for stones and yis, their descriptions are fully expressed; how much more so for human beings? Therefore, if the terms of five stones and six yis are not properly established, then the royal way cannot be upheld. A place where people gather is called a capital city.
