| | In spring of the fifth year, in the first lunar month of King Wang, he abandoned the central army. It was a restoration of propriety. Chu killed its minister Qu Shen. The Duke went to Jin.

夏，莒牟夷以牟婁及防茲來奔。以者，不以者也。來奔者不言出。及防茲，以大及小也。莒無大夫，其曰牟夷何也？以其地來也。地以來則何以書也？重地也。 |
| | In summer, Ju Mouyi brought Moulou and Fangzi and fled here. The "with" indicates that it was not done with others. Those who fled here are not mentioned as having left. And Fangzi, meaning both the large and small ones. Ju had no ministers; then why is he called Mouyi? Because he came with his territory. If one comes with land, then why is it recorded? It emphasizes the territory.

| | In autumn, in the seventh lunar month, the Duke returned from Jin. On the Wuchen day, Shu Gong led an army and defeated Ju's forces at Benquan. The Di people called Benquan Shitai; the designation follows China, the name follows the master. Lord Qin died.
