| | Zhao Xiangzi sent Xin Zimu to attack the Di people. He defeated the Zuoren and Zhongren tribes, and messengers came quickly with news of victory. As Xiangzi was about to eat, he suddenly looked worried while eating. A servant asked: "The matter concerning the dog is great, yet your lord's expression is not at ease—why is that?" Xiangzi said: "I have heard that if virtue is not pure yet blessings and fortune come together, it is called good luck. Good luck is not true blessing; without virtue, one does not deserve prosperity. Prosperity without virtue cannot be called good fortune—this is why I fear."
