北：〔古文〕𧉥《唐韻》博墨切《集韻》《韻會》必墨切《正韻》必勒切，𠀤綳入聲。《說文》乖也。从二人相背。《徐曰》乖者，相背違也。《史記·魯仲連傳》士無反北之心。《玉篇》方名。《史記·天官書》北方水，太隂之精，主冬，曰壬癸。《前漢·律歷志》太隂者北方。北，伏也。陽氣伏于下，于時爲冬。又《廣韻》奔也。《史記·管仲傳》吾三戰三北。又《集韻》補妹切《韻會》蒲妹切，𠀤音背。《集韻》違也。《正韻》分異也。《書·舜典》分北三苗。《註》分其頑梗，使背離也。
