周郊婦人者，周大夫尹固所遇於郊之婦人也。周敬王之時，王子朝怙寵為亂，與敬王爭立，敬王不得入。尹固與召伯盈﹑原伯魯附於子朝。春秋魯昭二年六月，晉師納王，尹固與子朝奉周之典籍，出奔楚。 |
| | The woman of Zhoujiao was a woman encountered by Master Yin Gu, an official of the Zhou dynasty, in the suburbs. During the reign of King Jing of Zhou, Crown Prince Chao abused his favor and instigated a rebellion, contending with King Jing for the throne. As a result, King Jing could not enter [the capital]. Yin Gu and Zhao Boying, Yuan Bolu attached themselves to Crown Prince Chao. In the sixth month of the second year of King Zhao of Lu's reign in the Spring and Autumn period, the Jin forces escorted the king back. Yin Gu and Crown Prince Chao carried out the ritual records of Zhou and fled to Chu.

數日道還，周郊婦人遇郊，尤之曰：「處則勸人為禍，行則數日而反，是其過三歲乎？」至昭公二十九年，京師果殺尹固。君子謂：「周郊婦人，惡尹氏之助亂，知天道之不祐，示以大期。終如其言。」《》云：「取辟不遠，昊天不忒。」此之謂也。 |
| | After several days on the road, they returned. The woman of Zhoujiao encountered Yin Gu in the suburbs and reproached him, saying: "When staying behind, you urged people to bring calamity; when traveling, you return after only a few days—has his guilt lasted for three years?" By the twenty-ninth year of King Zhao's reign, the capital indeed executed Yin Gu. The gentlemen said: "The woman of Zhoujiao hated Yin Shi's assistance in the rebellion, understood that Heaven would not support such actions, and demonstrated a great destiny." In the end, events unfolded exactly as she had said. The Book of Songs says: "To seek guidance is not far; the vast Heaven does not err." This is what it means.
