King Wu asked Tai Gong, "How should one select soldiers for chariot warfare?"
Tai Gong said, "The method for selecting soldiers for chariot warfare is to choose those who are under forty years old and over seven chi five cun in height. They must be able to run fast enough to keep up with a galloping horse, mount the chariot while running, maneuver skillfully forward, backward, left, right, up, and down, tie and manage banners tightly, have the strength to draw an eight-shi crossbow, and shoot accurately in all directions. Those who are well-trained in these skills may be called 'Wu Che Shi' (soldiers of martial chariotry), and they must not be treated lightly."
