子墨子言曰:「仁之事者,俞云:「『仁之事者』,當作『仁人之所以為事者』,見兼愛中篇。」詒讓案:疑當云「仁者之事」,下文云「仁者之為天下度也」,可證。必務求興天下之利,除天下之害,將以為法乎天下。利人乎,即為;不利人乎,即止。且夫仁者之為天下度也,非為其目之所美,耳之所樂,口之所甘,身體之所安,以此虧奪民衣食之財,仁者弗為也。」·」。《說文·金部》云「鑮,大鍾,淳于之屬。」以為不樂也;非以刻鏤華文章之色,畢云「一本無『華』字」。以為不美也;非以犓豢煎炙之味,以為不甘也;「犓」,吳鈔本作「芻」。《說文·火部》云「煎,熬也。」《方言》云「煎,火乾也。凡有汁而乾,謂之煎」。非以高臺厚榭邃野之居,以為不安也。王引之云:「野,即宇字也,古讀野如宇,故與宇通。周禮職方氏『其澤藪曰大野』,釋文『野,劉音與』,與、宇古同音。《楚辭招魂》『高堂邃宇』,王注曰『邃,深也;宇,屋也』,《鹽鐵論·取下》篇曰『高堂邃宇,廣廈洞房』,易林恒之剝曰『深堂邃宇,君安其所』,皆其證。若郊野之野,則不得言邃,且上與高臺厚榭不倫,下與之居二字義不相屬矣。」雖身知其安也,口知其甘也,目知其美也,耳知其樂也,然上考之不中聖王之事,下度之不中萬民之利。
