堯霍,此二字為下文發耑,篇中「霍」字婁見,以義推之,似並當為「虎」之訛,然於此文不合。畢云「據下文作『臛』」,張從之,未知是否?或以名視人,或以實視人。張云:「堯者名,臛者實。」舉友富商也,是以名視人也。指是臛也,「臛」或當同上作「霍」。是以實視人也。視與示通。舉友之富商以告人,是示以名也。指臛以示人,是示以實也。堯之義也,是聲也於今,張云:「名生於今。」所義之實處於古。言堯之義施於當時不能及今,即經「異時」之義。此釋《經上》「堯之義也,生於今而處於古而異時,說在所義」。「生」疑當為「任」。若殆於城門與於臧也。此九字上下文無所屬,張并上堯霍為一條,云「城門,守門者,臧僕也。城門舉實,臧舉名」。其說殊迂曲。審校文義,疑當在上文「無讓者酒,未讓,始也,不可讓也」之下,皆釋《經下》「無不讓也,不可」之義。凡古人行禮,賓主入門必讓,若與人同入城門,而相殆,則無為讓。臧為賤人,不足與為禮,則不必讓也。《荀子·榮辱》篇云「巨涂則讓,小涂則殆」,楊注云「殆,近也。」此殆異於讓之義。
