Thus, he abandoned the path of seeking official advancement and instead sought methods for cultivating his nature. Diligently searching for unusual teachings, he traveled no less than a thousand li without hesitation. If there was anyone who surpassed him in ability, even if that person were a servant or guest, he would certainly treat them as a teacher. Later, he studied the Five Elements records of Mozi and also took Zhuying Pills; he lived to be over 180 years old, yet remained as vigorous as a child. He was fond of transformations and invisibility, and he was also able to make one person appear as a hundred, a hundred as a thousand, and a thousand as ten thousand. He could also render an entire army invisible, transforming people into clusters of trees and shrubs, or even into birds and beasts. He would try taking others' belongings and placing them among his group, yet no one would notice. He was also able to plant trees bearing five kinds of fruits, which quickly blossomed and bore edible fruit; he could summon a traveling kitchen on the spot, providing food for hundreds of people. He was also able to blow air into wind, causing sand to fly and stones to rise. By pointing his finger at houses, forests, or vessels, he could make them collapse; with another gesture, they would return as they were before. He was also able to transform into the form of a beautiful woman, and even create wooden figures. He was capable of traveling thousands of li within a single day. He could exhale to summon clouds, raise his hands to create fog, gather earth into mountains, and pierce the ground to form deep pools. He could suddenly grow old or young, change in size from large to small, enter water without getting wet, walk on the surface of water, and summon fish, turtles, dragons, and giant tortoises from rivers and seas, who would all immediately come ashore. He could also expel a breath of five-colored vapor, which spread over an area ten li wide and connected to the heavens above. He was also able to leap up and down, rising hundreds of zhang away from the ground. Later, his whereabouts became unknown.
