《后周书》曰：武帝李后，名娥姿，楚人也。于谨平江陵，后家被籍没。至长安，太祖以后赐高祖，幸之，生宣帝。宣帝即位，尊为天元圣太后。宣帝崩，静帝尊为大帝太后。隋开皇初，出俗为尼，改名常悲。薨，以尼礼葬于京城南。
