《詳刑》

1 詳刑:
夫刑辟之作,所從尚矣。聖人以治,亂人以亡,故古今帝王,莫不詳慎之者,以為人命至重,壹死不生,一斷不屬故也。夫堯、舜之明,猶惟刑之恤也。是以後聖制法,設三槐九棘之吏,肺石嘉石之訊,然猶復三判,僉曰可殺,然後殺之,罰若有疑,即從其輕,此蓋詳慎之至也。故苟詳、則死者不恨,生者不忿,忿恨不作,則灾害不生,灾害不生,太平之治也。

2 詳刑:
是以聖主用其刑也。詳而行之,必欲民犯之者寡,而畏之者衆,明刑至於無刑,善殺至於無殺,此之謂矣。夫暗亂之主,用刑彌繁,而犯之者益多,而殺之者彌衆,而慢之者尤甚者何,由用之不詳而行之不必也。不詳則罪不值,所罪不值則當死反生,不必則令有所虧,令有所虧則刑罰不齊矣。失此二者,雖日用五刑,而民猶輕犯之,故亂刑之刑,刑以生刑,惡殺之殺,殺以致殺,此之謂也。
