| | Fine jade is discarded among manure and dirt, while lead and tin are displayed in the marketplace alongside them; observers mistakenly believe that alongxi [a type of metal] is genuine and that gui bi [jade objects] are counterfeit. Glue and lacquer, when combined, eventually separate; Smoke and water, once separated, never reunite.
