Lü Qian, courtesy name Zike, was a native of Rencheng. When Tai Zu was in Yuanzhou, he heard that Lü Qian had courage and strategic ability, so he appointed him as an officer. Lü Qian led his household troops to defend Hulu. Jingmu et al., commoners under the jurisdiction of Xiangling Jiaowei Du Song, rebelled and formed an alliance with Chang Xi. Tai Zu appointed Lü Qian to replace Du Song. Lü Qian arrived and lured Jingmu Qu Lüe as well as several dozen others who had committed evil deeds, offering them wine and food as a gift. He selected valiant warriors to lie in ambush beside them. Lü Qian observed that Jingmu and his followers were all drunk, so he ordered the hidden troops to kill them all. He pacified the remaining people, and thus the bandits were subdued. Tai Zu appointed Lü Qian as the governor of Taishan. The commandery bordered mountains and seas, and during times of turmoil, it was widely known that many civilians had hidden themselves away. Several dozen men, including Zhonglangjiang Guo Zu and Gongsun Du appointed by Yuan Shao, took refuge in the mountains as bandits, causing great suffering to the local people. Lü Qian led his household troops into the commandery, extended kindness and trust, and Guo Zu et al. along with their followers all surrendered. Those who had fled or hidden in the mountains emerged to settle down and resume their livelihoods. Lü Qian selected the strongest among them as soldiers, and thus Taishan came to have an elite army that was renowned throughout the commanderies and states. Xu He of the Huanggun in Jinan, along with others, committed robberies against local officials wherever they went and attacked cities and towns. Lü Qian led his troops to join Xiahou Yuan in attacking them, engaging in several dozen battles before and after, killing or capturing thousands of enemy soldiers. Tai Zu ordered Lü Qian to supervise the armies of various commanderies in Qingzhou to suppress the bandits Li Tiao et al. in Donglai, and he achieved success. Tai Zu issued an order saying: "One who possesses a certain ambition will surely accomplish the corresponding task; this is what devoted men strive for. Since you assumed office in the commandery, you have captured evildoers and suppressed violence, bringing peace to the people. You personally face arrows and stones of war, and wherever you campaign, you achieve victory. In ancient times, Kou Xun established his reputation in Ru and Ying commanderies, while Geng Yan formulated strategies in Qing and Yuan. The spirit is the same through the ages." Lü Qian was recommended as a virtuous talent, granted the title of Qi Duyi, but continued to govern the commandery as before. Lü Qian governed Taishan for more than ten years and was highly respected for his authority and benevolence. When Wen Di assumed the position of king, he was granted the title Bijingun, enfeoffed as Yishou Tinghou, promoted to Cishi of Xu Zhou, and additionally conferred the rank Weilu Jiangjun. Lü Qian requested Langya Wang Xiang to serve as Biejia, entrusting all civil affairs entirely to him. The world praised his ability to appoint capable and virtuous men.

Sun Sheng Zayu said: Wang Xiang's courtesy name was Xiuzheng. He was extremely filial. His stepmother treated him harshly and cruelly, often wanting to harm or endanger Wang Xiang, yet he remained attentive in his care with unwavering respect. During the bitterly cold winter months, his stepmother said, "I feel like eating fresh fish." Wang Xiang removed his clothes and was about to break the ice in search of fish. Soon, the hard ice melted, and a fish leaped out from below; he then presented it as an offering. At that time, people believed this miracle resulted from his filial devotion. He devoted more than thirty years to supporting and honoring her, only beginning an official career after his stepmother passed away. His sincerity, integrity, and moral purity earned him great respect in his time. Wang Yin Jin Shu said: Wang Xiang first entered officialdom when he was over fifty years old, and gradually advanced to the position of Silijiaoyue. When Gao Gui Xianggong entered school, Wang Xiang was appointed as Sanlao and later promoted to Sikong Taiwei. When Sima Wenwang first became King of Jin, Sikong Xun Yi invited Wang Xiang to show utmost respect, but Wang Xiang refused. The account is recorded in the Annals of Three Young Emperors. When Jin Wu ascended the throne, he conferred Wang Xiang as Taibao and enfeoffed him as Juling Gong. In the fourth year of Taishi (268 AD), at the age of eighty-nine, he passed away. Wang Xiang's younger brother was Wang Lan, courtesy name Xuantong, who served as Guanglu Dafu. Jin Zhugong Zan praised Wang Lan for having always possessed the highest moral conduct. Wang Lan's descendants flourished, with many virtuous and talented individuals among them. The family's prosperity across generations is rare in both ancient and modern times. They suppressed the rebels at Licheng, achieving success by killing and capturing many of them. When Mingdi ascended the throne, his fief was changed to Wannian Tinghou, with an additional 200 households added to his territory, totaling 600 households. Lü Qian died, and his son Lü Fan succeeded him. Lü Fan died, and his son Lu Gui succeeded him.
