| | All rulers who have ever ruled over people, being wise and perceptive beforehand, thus could educate without severity yet achieve transformation, govern without strictness yet manage affairs well. Their benevolence and gentleness are serene and composed; their breadth and grandeur are vast and exuberant. Indeed, they can be said to embody the three talents (heaven, earth, and humanity) while encompassing both firmness and gentleness; thus, they do not harm others. The inscription says: "Heaven observes the Han dynasty, bestowing this world's assistant." Manifest and upright is his virtue, illustrious descendants in noble order. Lofty and majestic is the Yong Palace, where rites and music are fully observed. Majestic is the Son of Heaven, filial piety and reverence properly arranged. Descending to bow before the screen, they present offerings in the western hall. Their dignity and decorum are well cultivated; their transformation overflows throughout the realm. Thus they govern the capital, overseeing the disciplined imperial guards."
