壬戌，以趙普為右諫議大夫、樞密直學士。初，帝領宋鎮，普為書記，與節度判官寧陵劉熙古、觀察判官安次呂餘慶、攝推官太康沈義倫皆在幕府。至是普以佐命功遷，乃召熙古為左諫議大夫，餘慶為給事中、端明殿學士，義倫為戶部郎中。

己未，帝發大梁；壬戌，次滎陽。西京留守河內向拱勸帝：「濟河，𧾷俞太行，乘賊未集而擊之。稽留浹旬，則其鋒益熾矣。」樞密直學士趙普亦言：「賊意國家新造，未能出征；若倍道兼行，掩其不備，可一戰而克。」帝納其言。丁卯，石守信、高懷德破李筠軍三萬餘於澤州南，獲北漢河陽節度使范守圖，殺盧贊。筠遁入澤州，嬰城自固。
