14  | 人主所以總一天下者，法令也。喪師誤國之王化貞，與楊鎬異辟；潔己愛民之餘大成，與孫元化並逮。甚至一言一事之偶誤，執訊隨之。遂使刑罰不中，鈇鉞無威。一可憂也。 |
| 76 | 崇禎四年，徵授吏科給事中。帝遣中官王應期等監視關、寧軍馬，開元抗疏爭，不納。王化貞久繫不決，奸人張應時等疏頌其功，請以身代死，俾戴罪立功。開元疏駁之，言：「化貞家貲鉅萬，每會朝審，輒買燕市少年，雜立道旁，投熊廷弼瓦礫，嗟嘆化貞不休，以此熒惑上聽。今應時復敢為此請，宜立肆化上貞市朝。」化貞卒正法。 |
