禮記注疏卷六十考證大學致知在格物注格來也物猶事也○臣召南按注以來訓格於理難通司馬光謂為扞格之格即扞禦外物之意說經亦僻程子始以窮理解格物朱子從之

未之有也○臣召南按注疏於大學俱一片說不分經傳亦不云有錯簡分經傳訂錯簡自程子始而朱子從之

此謂知本此謂知之至也○古本二句接未之有也之下程子以為衍文朱子曰此謂知本衍文此謂知之至也句上别有闕文此特其結語耳章句置此二句於聼訟章之後

所謂誠其意者必誠其意○朱子定為傳之六章釋誠意

詩云瞻彼淇澳沒世不忘也○朱子移此二節於穆穆文王節後為傳之三章釋止至善

康誥曰克明徳皆自明也○朱子定為傳之首章釋明明徳

湯之盤銘曰用其極○朱子定為傳之二章釋新民詩云邦畿千里止於信○朱子定為傳之三章釋止至善而移前文淇澳二節接止於信之下疏此經大學之道云云○臣召南按刋本相承於畫叚全不分明細玩孔疏則亦自有界限大學之道至則近道矣為一章章首也古之欲明明徳於天下者至此謂知之至也為二章言明明徳之理也所謂誠其意者至大畏民志此謂知本為三章廣明誠意之事也各叚疏宜各附本章之下而刋本自大學之道至止於信連為一叚以三章之疏總附於下又截聼訟一節於後則全非孔疏之意也

聼訟吾猶人也此謂知本○朱子定為傳之四章釋本末臣召南按董槐以知止而后有定二節合聼訟章為格物傳謂格物致知傳本不闕也葉夢鼎王柏皆以為然方孝孺曰朱子以聼訟章為釋本末律以前後之例稍為不類今合知止以下至則近道矣以上四十二字於聼訟吾猶人之右為傳第四章以釋致知格物與堯舜之智不徧物之言正相發明且古人說經畧舉大義而意趣自備非若後世說者之固也由國家而推之天下大學之所宜為則欲致知者舍聼訟而何以哉是語雖異於朱子而不乖乎道固朱子之所取也今錄於此以備一說

所謂脩身在正其心者○臣召南按以下四章夲文自明即孔疏亦條理秩然但刋夲相承俱接連寫則失孔疏之意耳

舅犯曰疏○此叚疏闕十處又不察於雞豚疏闕十九處又注春秋傳曰登戾之疏闕五處又注椘書椘昭王書疏闕二十五處又注其為誠然疏闕二字又注卿大夫以上疏闕五處各本並同今仍其舊臣召南按疏於椘書兩引王孫圉及昭奚恤之事正以鄭注謂椘書是椘昭王時書未嘗指定是楚語也但疏引椘語僅列觀射父則脫左史倚相一叚矣又引新序一叚司馬子反訛作子發又理百姓實倉廩使民各得其所令尹子西在此五叚宜接即賢人也之下
