52  | 贞元初，穆宁为和州刺史，其子故宛陵尚书及给事已下尚未分官，列侍宁前。时穆氏家法切峻。宁命诸子直馔，愁不如意则杖之。诸子将至直日，必探求珍异，罗于鼎俎之前，竞新其味，计无不为。然而未尝免答叱之过者。一日给事直馔，鼎前有熊白及鹿修。忽曰：「白肥而修瘠相滋，其宜乎？」遂同试，曰：「甚异常品。」即以白裹修改之而进，宁果再饱。宛陵与诸季望给事盛形羡色，曰：「非唯免笞，兼当受赏。」给事颇亦自得。宁饭讫，戒使令曰：「谁直？可与杖俱来。」于是罸如常数。给事将拜杖，遽命前曰：「有此味，奚进之晚耶？」于是闻者笑而传之。 |
