9  | 三缄身隐芦中，窃听无人行动，始出溪岸，绕芦前征。行至日影西斜，尚见簇簇芦花，若无涯涣。是时腹中甚馁，步履维艰，又恐二役寻来，忙忙掬饮溪泉，以疗饥玻饮已，足力稍健，逢有路径，即由之去，不暇问及狼窝虎窟。行复数里，芦花已过，一带茂林，周围荆棘纵横，似无行客之路。立望良久，瞥见林左有小小路径。三缄出得荆棘，转至其间，正待前趋，林内腥风忽起，驻足凝睇，见一黑蟒大约数围，蜿蜒而来，其行甚疾。三缄恐避不及，斜向西行。孰知蟒亦西奔，相隔不过数武。三缄奔力已憋，当头一蟒，巨更胜前。骇极，狂奔北面，缘木而上，幸得此树叶茂枝繁，中有雀巢如人居室。三缄隐入，偷窥二蟒，始而以首相触，继而以舌相舐，终而将身挣立，约有二丈馀高，各吐一珠，其大如碗，抛而复坠，坠而复抛者累累。 |
