19  | 元二之災《後漢鄧騭傳》，「拜為大將軍，時遭元二之災，人士飢荒，死者相望，盜賊群起，四夷侵畔。」章懷注云：「元二即元元也，古書字當再讀者，即於上字之下為小二字。言此字當兩度言之。後人不曉，遂讀為元二，或同之陽九，或附之百六，良由不悟，致斯乖舛。今岐州《石鼓銘》，凡重言者皆為二字，明驗也。」漢碑有《楊孟文石門頌》云：「中遭元二，西夷虐殘。」《孔耽碑》云：「遭元二轗柯，人民相食。」趙明誠《金石跋》云：「若讀為元元，不成文理，疑當時自有此語，《漢注》未必然也。」按王充《論衡，恢國篇》雲，「今上嗣位，元二之間，嘉德布流。三年，零陵生芝草。四年，甘露降五縣。五年，芝復生。六年，黃龍見。」蓋章帝時事。考之本紀，所書建初三年以後諸瑞皆同，則知所謂元二者，謂建初元年、二年也。既稱嘉德布流以致樣瑞，其為非災眚之語，益可決疑。安帝永初元年、二年，先零滇羌寇叛，郡國地震、大水，鄧騭以二年十一月拜大將軍，則知所謂元二者，謂永初元年、二年也。凡漢碑重文不皆用小二字，豈有《范史》一部唯獨一處如此，予兄丞相作《隸釋》，論之甚詳。予脩國史日，撰《欽宗紀贊》，用靖康元二之禍，實本於此。 |
