44  | 南匯海濱廣斥，鄉民圍圩作田，收獲頻豐。以近海故，螃蜞極多，時出稼，《國語》所謂「稻蟹不遺」也。其居民每畜鴨以食螃蜞，鴨既肥，而稻不害，誠兩得其術也。此事餘在南匯稔知之。比宰青浦，則去海較遠，湖中雖有螃蜞，漁人捕以入市，恆慮其少。而鴨畜於湖，千百成群，闌入稻田，往往肆食一空。於是各鄉農民來縣具呈，請禁畜鴨。時攝南匯令某君方以畜鴨食螃蜞為保稼善策，稟請通行各處，巡撫丁公抄稟行知下縣。余閱之，不禁失笑，因以青浦請禁之件申覆；公見之，亦一笑而止。蓋物土之宜，固不可一概論之。古人迎貓祭虎，今日虎詎可迎耶？ |
