1 | 精於鑒賞碑拓者,辨其紙墨,即知其為何省拓本。葉鞠裳嘗論之曰:「吾吳老書估侯念椿,已作古矣,見書籍裝訂,即知其從何地來,拓本亦然。收之既久,見之既多,何省拓本,不難一望而知。陝中尋常拓本,皆用麤紙,色黃而厚,精者香墨連史紙,郭宗昌《金石史》稱所見懷仁《聖教序》是武關構皮紙,堅柔相得,虛和受墨,簾紋如織,隃麋如漆,歲久入理,此拓之至精者。汴紙最惡,質性鬆脆易爛,又攙以石灰,經十餘年,即片片作胡蜨飛,即用紙託,亦不耐重揭。故龍門、嵩高諸拓本,舊拓流傳者頗少。北方燕、趙之間,工亦不良,精者用連史紙,粗者用毛頭紙,即糊窗紙。石質粗惡,遼、金碑紋理尤駮,往往滿紙如釵股,如屋漏痕。齊、魯之間,今多用陳簠齋法,拓手為海內之冠,然燕、秦碑估往拓,或擕紙墨隨,亦不盡如二者之精。吳、越、兩楚以逮五嶺以西,皆不用黃紙,惟墨之濃淡,拓之輕重,微不同,石質受墨,亦有深淺之別,惟望氣可以知之,不可以言傳也。閩、廣喜用白宣紙,堅厚瑩潔,黝然純黑而無光。墨包,當是用粗布,故時有木理紋。蜀石多摩崖造象,或髹以丹漆,故拓本往往有斑點,或皴作淡黃色,字口時有祀齾缺痕。山左之千佛崖及益都諸山造象亦如此。滇碑用白紙大理拓本,亦間用東洋皮紙,極堅韌,但拓手不精耳。兩爨碑精本,尤不易得。朝鮮碑皆用其本國繭紙,滑如鏡面,柔韌而有絲紋,惟惜墨如金,淡拓多,濃拓少,或僅於字之四圍著墨,無字處即如白地光明錦。石質既堅,紙又受椎,或墨所不到之處,其筆畫窠臼,深陷可辨。朱拓皆以土硃,佳者用銀硃,和雞子白調拓,最易生蠹,不可與墨拓共置一處,否則滋蔓難圖。間有藍色、綠色拓者,其弊與朱拓同。」 |
