中涵原本作𣹢浮沉升降動靜相感之性,是生絪縕相盪勝負屈伸之始, 涵,如水中涵影之象。中涵者其體,是生者其用也。輕者浮,重者沉;親上者升,親下者降;動而趨行者動,動而赴止者靜;皆陰陽和合之氣所必有之幾,而成乎情之固然,猶人之有性也。絪縕:太和未分之本然;相盪:其必然之理勢;勝負:因其分數之多寡, 乘乎時位,一盈一虛也。勝則伸,負則屈。勝負屈伸:衰王死生之成象,其始則動之幾也。此言天地人物消長死生自然之數,皆太和必有之幾。其來也幾微易簡,其究也廣大堅固, 來:謂始動而化之初;究:謂已成形體也。幾微:氣之初動。易簡者:唯陽健陰順而已。廣大:品物流形。堅固:體成而不易毀也。乾坤有體則必生用,用而還成其體,體靜而用動,故曰「靜極而動,動極而靜,動靜無端。」起知於易者乾乎, 效法於簡者坤乎,太和本然之體,未有知也,未有能也,易簡而已。而其所𣹢涵之性有健有順,故知於此起,法於此效,而大用行矣。散殊而可象為氣,清通而不可象為神, 太和之中有氣有神。神者非他,二氣清通之理也。不可象者,即在象中。陰與陽和,氣與神和,是謂太和。人生而物,感交, 氣逐於物,役氣而遺神,神為使而迷其健順之性,非其生之本然也。不如野馬, 絪縕不足謂之太和敔按:野馬者,天之神;絪縕者,天之氣。此言體道者不於物感未交, 喜怒哀樂未倚之中合氣於神、合神於性,以健順五常之理融會於清通、生其變化。而有滯有息,則不足以肖太和之本體,而用亦不足以行矣。敔按:清通者心之神, 變化者心之化。語「道」者知此,謂之知「道」;學「易」者見此,謂之見「易」。見:實證之於心也。「易」曰:「陰陽相摩,八卦相盪,鼓之以雷霆,潤之以風雨,日月運行,一寒一暑,乾道成男,坤道成女」, 此之謂也。健順合而太和,其幾必動, 氣以成形,神以居理,性固具足於神氣之中, 天地之生人物,人之肖德於天地者,唯此而已矣。不如此,雖周公才美,其智不足稱也已。待其已感, 因事而效能者,才也;智則灼見道體,而知無不起,法無不效矣。敔按:知「道」見「易」,始謂之智;智不足而恃才,雖美如周公,亦不足稱。
