1 论周子、程子、朱子与阳明学之异同
2 问:「阳明学问似微与诸儒不同,何如?」
3 曰:「岂惟阳明为然,即宋时诸儒学问亦难尽同。如周子则学在主静,程子则学在主敬,朱子则学在穷致事物之理,至我朝阳明先生则又独谓学在致其良知。此虽各有所见,然究其宗旨,则皆志于学圣,故少有不同而不失其为同也。盖圣之为圣,释作通明。如周子说无欲则静虚动直,静虚则明,明则通,显是主于通明也。程子说主敬则聪明睿智皆由此出,亦是主于通明也。朱子说在物之表里精粗无不到,而后吾心之全体大用无不明,亦是主于通明也。
4 是三先生之学皆主于通明,但其理必得之功效,而其时必俟诸持久。若阳明先生之致其良知,虽是亦主于通明,然良知却即是明,不属效验,良知却原自通,又不必等待。况从良知之不虑而知而通之圣人之不思而得,从良知之不学而能而通之圣人之不勉而中,浑然天成,更无斧凿,恐三先生如在,亦必当为此公首肯而心契也已。」
