1  | 沈端恪公尝争耗羡。盖耗羡归公之议，创自田文镜、诺岷。世宗已许行，而犹召九卿议之。众以上意所向，不敢争，沈独争之，力言今日正项之外，更添正项，他日必于耗羡之外，更添耗羡，他人或不知，臣起家县令，故知其必不可行。世宗曰：「汝为令，亦私耗羡乎？」沈曰：「非私也。非是，且无以养妻子。」世宗曰：「汝学道人，乃私妻子乎？」沈曰：「臣不敢私妻子，但不能不养妻子，若废之，则人伦绝矣。」世宗笑曰：「朕今日乃为沈近思所难。」是日，众皆为沈危，然上虽不用其言，亦不怒也。 |
