12  | 歐羅巴諸國，漢後皆奉天主教，教王居於羅馬。明初，日耳曼人路得，別立耶穌教。自是諸國從天主教者半，從耶穌教者半，然所謂天主者，即耶穌，其書同而講解異。按耶穌生於猶太，教之盛行，起於羅馬，王侯聽其頤指，有不從者，國輒被兵，數百年無敢違異，以耶穌為上天之主宰也。路得稱耶穌為救世主，名其教為耶穌教，諸國之奉天主教者，翻然從之不可止今歐羅巴從天主教者，曰意大裏亞，曰佛郎西，曰比利時，曰西班亞，曰葡萄亞。從耶穌教者，曰英吉利，曰荷蘭，曰梿國，曰瑞國，曰普魯士，曰米利堅。此外兩教參雜者，曰奧地利，曰日耳曼。天主教規立十字架，作銅人肖耶穌被釘受難之形，旁有女人像，肖耶穌之母馬利亞，耶穌教無之。其餘七日禮拜、安息之類皆同。又別有希臘教者，亦天主教別派。 |
