介者拸畫,外非譽也;郭云:「介,刖也。」崔云:「拸畫,不拘法度也。」俞云:「漢書司馬相如傳注:『痑,自放縱也。』與此拸字義同。穀梁桓六年傳『以其畫我』,公羊傳作『化我』,何注:『行過無禮謂之化。』畫義蓋同。人既刖足,不自顧惜,非譽皆所不計,故不拘法度。」胥靡登高而不懼,遺死生也。胥靡,役作之人。傅說胥靡是也。夫復不餽而忘人,釋文:「餽,元嘉本作愧。」郭嵩燾云:「說文:『讋,失氣言也。』『,言讋也。』復,謂人語言慴伏以下我。以物與人曰餽,以言語餉人亦曰餽。不餽,謂不報謝。外非譽,遺死生,忘己者也;復不餽,忘人者也。」案:復不餽,諸解皆非,郭說為近,下文所謂「敬之而不喜」也。此處疑有奪文,不敢強說。忘人,因以為天人矣。能忘人,即可以為天人,以其近自然也。敬之而不喜,侮之而不怒者,唯同乎天和者為然。成云:「忘其逆順。」出怒不怒,則怒出於不怒矣;出於人所怒之事,而我不怒,則有時而怒,仍自不怒出。此孟子所謂「文王一怒」、「武王一怒」也。出為无為,則為出於无為矣。出於人所為之地,而我不為,則有時而為,仍自無為出。中庸所謂「無為而成」,孔子所謂「無為而治」也。欲靜則平氣,欲神則順心,郭云:「平氣則靜理足,順心則神功至。」有為也。欲當則緣於不得已,郭云:「緣於不得已,則所為皆當。」成云:「不得止者,感而後應,分內之事也。」不得已之類,聖人之道。郭云:「聖人以斯為道,豈求無為於恍惚之外哉!」

黃帝將見大隗乎具茨之山,釋文:「大隗,神名。司馬云:『具茨,在滎陽密縣東,今名泰隗山。』」方明為御,昌㝢驂乘,張若、朋前馬,司馬云:「先馬導。」昆閽、滑稽後車。至於襄城之野,成云:「汝州有襄城縣,在大隗山南。」七聖皆迷,无所問塗。適遇牧馬童子,問塗焉,曰:「若知具茨之山乎?」曰:「然。」「若知大隗之所存乎?」曰:「然。」黃帝曰:「異哉小童!非徒知具茨之山,又知大隗之所存。請問為天下。」小童曰:「夫為天下者,亦若此而已矣,亦若此遊於襄城之野而已。又奚事焉?不必更欲多事。予少而自遊於六合之內,予適有瞀病,釋文:「瞀,莫豆反。李云:『風眩貌。』」有長者教予曰:『若乘日之車,司馬云:「以日為車也。」郭云:「日出而遊,日入而息。」而遊於襄城之野。』今予病少痊,予又且復遊於六合之外。夫為天下,亦若此而已。予又奚事焉?」言非我所事也。黃帝曰:「夫為天下者,則誠非吾子之事。雖然,請問為天下。」小童辭。黃帝又問。小童曰:「夫為天下者,亦奚以異乎牧馬者哉?亦去其害馬者而已矣。」見害於馬者去之,使馬得全其天也。黃帝再拜稽首,稱天師而退。已見大隗矣。
