5  | 夏统，字仲御，会稽永兴人也。幼孤贫，养亲以孝闻，睦于兄弟，每采梠求食，星行夜归，或至海边，拘螊越以资养。雅善谈论。宗族劝之仕，谓之曰：「卿清亮质直，可作郡纲纪，与府朝接，自当显至，如何甘辛苦于山林，毕性命于海滨也！」统悖然作色曰：「诸君待我乃至此乎！使统属太平之时，当与元凯评议出处，遇浊代，念与屈生同污共泥；若污隆之间，自当耦耕沮溺，岂有辱身曲意于郡府之间乎！闻君之谈，不觉寒毛尽戴，白汗四匝，颜如渥丹，心热如炭，舌缩口张，两耳壁塞也。」言者大惭。统自此遂不与宗族相见。 |
