周制,大司樂云:「夏日至禮地祇於澤中之方丘。」地祇主昆侖也。必於澤中者,所謂因下以事地。其丘在國之北。就陰位。禮神之玉以黃琮,琮,八方,象地。牲用黃犢,幣用黃繒。大宗伯云「黃琮禮地」,下文云「皆有牲幣,各放其器之色」,則牲幣皆宜以黃。王及尸同服大裘。祭地之服無文。崔靈恩、賈公彥、孔穎達皆云與祭天同服。今按,郊特牲云「器用陶匏,以象天地之性」,是同器也。王制云「天地之牛角繭栗」,是同牲也。又鉤命決云「地配以后稷」,又配祭同也。此類頗多,凡覆載功齊,煦嫗德一,尚質之義安有二哉!配以后稷。按鉤命決釋孝經云「郊祀后稷以配天地。祭天南郊,就陽位。祭地北郊,就陰位。后稷為天地主,文王為五帝宗」是也。其樂,則大司樂云:「凡樂,函鍾為宮,太蔟為角,姑洗為徵,南呂為羽,靈鼓靈,孫竹之管,空桑之琴瑟,咸池之舞,夏日至,於澤中之方丘奏之。若樂八變,則地祇皆出,可得而禮矣。」先奏是樂以致其神,禮之以玉,乃後合樂而祭焉。函鍾,林鍾也。林鍾生於未之氣。未,坤之位也。或曰:天社在東井、輿鬼之外。天社,地神。以之為宮,用聲類求之。凡祭天地宗廟之樂無商者,尚柔,商,堅剛也。靈鼓靈,六面鼓也。孫竹,竹支根之末生者也。空桑,山名。其神州地祇,謂王者所卜居吉土,五千里之內地名也。先儒皆引禹受地統書云「崑崙東南地方五千里,名曰神州」是也。按皇地祇,鄭玄以為崑崙,即是土地高著之稱。既舉最高為稱,是知四和之地皆及之也。至於神州,但方五千里而已,故不云丘而言郊。玉用兩珪,五寸有邸。●而同邸也。所謂祠於北郊神州之神。●音昌絹反。牲用黝犢,地官牧人云:「陰祀用黝牲。」注云「謂祭地北郊」。幣用黑繒。幣色無文。按崑崙牲幣用黑色,則神不宜異也。其壇,於北郊築土為壇,名曰太折。祭法云:「瘞埋於太折祭地也。」注云:「折,照晰,必為昭明之名,尊神。」配亦以后稷。鉤命決云「郊祀后稷以配天地」。其樂,奏太蔟,歌應鍾,舞咸池,以祭地祇。地祇所祭於北郊,謂神州之神及社稷。備五齊若神州,則醴齊而下四齊。七獻。本擬大祫九獻,以外神無祼,故七獻。王及尸服,齋戒,乘路,酒樽,薦葅醢之器,藉神席稿秸蒲越,及雞人呼晨,司樂宿懸,掌次設次,大宗伯攝亞獻,並如圜丘。其日,王服大裘,立於方丘東南,西面。乃奏函鍾為宮以下之樂,以致其神。訖,王又親牽牲取血,并玉瘞之以求神。謂之二始。天地之祭,惟圜丘方丘,備此二始。謂圜丘之先奏圜鍾為宮之樂,次燎牲及玉幣也。方丘則先奏函鍾為宮之樂,次則瘞埋血及玉幣。二者在正祭之前,故云二始。尸前既置玉幣等訖,次則王以匏片為爵,酌瓦甒之泛齊,以獻尸,謂之朝踐。所謂陶匏象天地之性。次大宗伯亦以匏爵酌醴齊,攝王后之獻。凡二獻也。次薦熟於神座前,畢,王更以匏爵酌盎齊以獻尸;大宗伯以匏爵酌醍齊以亞之,所謂饋食之獻。凡四獻也。尸乃食,食訖,王更酌朝踐之泛齊以酳尸,所謂朝獻;大宗伯次酌饋食之醍齊以亞之,所謂再獻。凡六獻也。次諸臣為賓酌沈齊以獻尸。凡七也。王每獻酒,皆作樂一終。
