事貴合經,勢嫌樹表,若乳母有廟何始乎?漢靈帝封乳母宋娥為山陽君,左雄奏曰:尚書故事,無乳母爵邑之制,惟孝安皇帝變亂舊典,封阿母王聖為野王君,生為天下所咀嚼,死為天下所忻快。初封野王,漢陽地動,今封山陽君,京城復震,專政在隂,其灾尤急,此皆生前爵里之榮,猶未嘗立廟也,若廟宇之創,詎可以易言者乎?昔東晉元帝為王妃,虞氏先亡,欲立廟,王導與賀循論虞廟,猶云於名則未滿,於理則變常。夫以帝子之妃而廟猶多議,況乳母特設一廟,恐於法理不經尢甚。今嘉靖庚辛間嘉禾創廟,不啻野王,山陽之封,大水為沴,三吳漫渰,百榖無穫,得非隂氣侵淫為孽之應,猶漢之地震者乎?識者巷議,而不能以大義裁其寵倖,曷不聞莽氏祖廟其灾異不一書耶?或曰:此非請於朝而命之也,自以貲賄之贏為卜吉、為翬飛者,時為郡侯者,改豫備倉公地以定其址,闢四近民居以拓其規,旦夕臨工所,猶自嗟不能厚餽,以逞其快。噫!其向進之心亦勤矣!夫善乎漢孝武之處乳母,東方朔之為營救,迨韓晉公之守法禮者,不可多得。宋太宗責益王乳母,用以正輔道,斯其治之,鑑與!按禮曰:世子始生,負以士之妻、大夫之妾,卜之吉,以食●之。此乳母之謂也。夫乳世子不以內官嬙媵之䙝,外方裙布之麄,必以士大夫妻妾,雖士大夫妻妾,亦不輕狥,必俟太卜吿吉,然後用之,舉世子則太子可推也,如是而用之焉,有乳母驕恣之弊?重國本者,當取法於此可也。
