| 2 | 舆地有书尚矣，自上世九丘既逸，而夏之《禹贡》，周之职方，灿然明备。至秦，郡县天下，两汉遂有地理，《郡国志》，厯代多放之，唐圗十道，皇朝志九域，皆是物也。然秉笔纪载实难，文献不足，无以参稽，而互考非足履目覩，则真赝详略，何従信之？司马迁贯紬经传，旁采子史，又闻长老之所称，而必观九江望五湖，阚洛汭行淮、泗而后成河渠之书，东方朔诵诗书二十二万言，三冬文史足用。又随师践赤县，遨五岳行泽陂，厯名山，犹以所见参酌《山海经》。而后《神异经》、《十洲记》始作学问不博，闻见不广，渉厯不亲，而欲㑹集四海九州山川风俗、土産、景物、人材、文章、名数沿革之详，特诬而已。建阳祝穆和父氏，新安人，朱文公先生之母党也。㓜从文公诸大贤㳺，性温行，淳学富文，赡雅有意。扵是书尝往来闽、浙、江淮、湖广间，所至必穷登临，与予有旧。每相见，必孜孜访风土事。经史、子集、稗官、野史、金石，刻列郡志，有可采摭必昼夜。 |
