13  | 孟子曰：王者之跡息而《詩》亡，《詩》亡然後《春秋》作。跡息者，謂《小雅》廢。詩亡者，謂正雅正風不作見《說大疋小疋》。《詩序》曰：文、武以《天保》以上治內，《採薇》以下治外；《六月》者，宣王北伐，《小雅》之變，自此始也。其序通言正雅二十二篇廢而王道缺，終之曰：《小雅》盡廢，則四夷交侵，中國微矣。國史之有編年，宜自此始。故太史公錄《十二諸侯年表》，始於共和，明前此無編年書。《墨子·明鬼篇》引周燕齊宋四國《春秋》，三事皆在隱、桓以下，《周春秋》乃記杜伯射宣王事。宣王以上，欲明鬼，其徵獨有《詩》《書》。明始作《春秋》者，為宣王太史。蓋大篆布而《春秋》作。五十凡例，尹吉甫、史籀之成式，非周公著也。晉羊舌習於《春秋》則為《乘》，楚士教太子《春秋》則為《檮杌》。孟子曰：晉之《乘》，楚之《檮杌》，魯之《春秋》，一也。惑者不睹論籑之科，不銓主客。文辭義理，此也；典章行事，彼也；一得造，一不得造。 |
