2  | 吾国国籍法，至光绪末叶，始经政府制定颁行，其前则惟考试者始有籍贯也。有父子兄弟异其县籍者，甚夥，盖省城郡城辄有两首县，苏州附郭有三首县：曰长洲，曰元和，曰吴。父兄本已著籍甲县，其后，乙县之应试者较少，为之子若弟者，改就乙县，于是父子兄弟之县籍遂不同矣。而同、光间有胡氏者，曰燏棻，曰家桢，以同产兄弟而省籍各异，实为仅见。燏棻字芸楣，官至工部侍郎，其籍为安徽泗州。家桢字芸台，官至江苏盐法道，其籍为浙江萧山。胡本萧山土著，其父曾设帽肆，经粤寇之乱，肆闭父殁，芸楣乃游皖，辗转而得事李文忠公鸿章。时皖人势盛，遂寄籍泗州而应试焉。芸楣既显达，芸台遂得以保举捐纳起家，由盐大使而至盐法道，以不应试故，用本贯，遂仍为浙人。 |
