《嘉祐集卷四·衡論上》
2  | 後世見三代取天下以仁義，而守之以禮樂也，則曰聖人無機。夫取天下與守天下，無機不能。顧三代聖人之機，不若後世之詐，故後世不得見耳。有機也，是以有腹心之臣。禹有益，湯有伊尹，武王有太公望。是三臣者，聞天下之所不聞，知群臣之所不知。禹與湯、武倡其機於上，而三臣共和之於下，以成萬世之功。下而至於桓、文，有管仲、狐偃為之謀主，闔廬有伍員，勾踐有范蠡、大夫種。高祖之起也，大將任韓信、黥布、彭越，裨將任曹參、樊噲、滕公、灌嬰，游說諸侯任酈生、陸賈、樅公，至於奇機密謀，群臣所不與者，惟留侯、酂侯二人。唐太宗之臣多奇才，而委之深、任之密者，亦不過曰房、杜。 |
