1  | 文章小伎「文章一小伎，於道未為尊。」雖杜子美有激而云，然要為失言，不可以訓。文章豈小事哉！《易．賁》之彖言：「剛柔交錯，天文也；文明以止，人文也。觀乎天文，以察時變；觀乎人文，以化成天下。」孔子稱帝堯煥乎有文章。子貢曰：「夫子之文章，可得而聞。」《詩》美衛武公，亦云有文章。堯、舜、禹、湯、文、武、成、康之聖賢，桀、紂、幽、厲之昏亂，非《詩》《書》以文章載之，何以傳？伏羲畫八卦，文王重之，非孔子以文章翼之，何以傳？孔子至言要道，托《孝經》、《論語》之文而傳。曾子、子思、孟子傳聖人心學，使無《中庸》及七篇之書，後人何所窺門戶？老、莊絕滅禮學，忘言去為，而五千言與《內篇》、《外篇》極其文藻。釋氏之為禪者，謂語言為累，不知大乘諸經可廢乎？然則詆為小伎，其理謬矣！彼後世為詞章者，逐其末而忘其本，玩其華而落其實，流宕自遠，非文章過也。杜老所云「文章千古事」，「已似愛文章」，「文章日自負」，「文章實致身」，「文章開宎奧」，「文章憎命達」，「名豈文章著」，「枚乘文章老」，「文章敢自誣」，「海內文章伯」，「文章曹植波瀾闊」，「庾信文章老更成」，「豈有文章驚海內」，「每語見許文章伯」，「文章有神交有道」，如此之類，多指詩而言，所見狹矣！ |
