12  | 颍川荀淑至慎阳，遇宪于逆旅，逆旅，客舍。时年十四，淑竦然异之，揖与语，移日不能去。谓宪曰：「子，吾之师表也。」旣而前至袁闳一作「阆」。所，未及劳问，逆曰：「子国有颜子，宁识之乎？」颜子，颜回也。闳曰：「见吾叔度邪？」是时，同郡戴良才高倨慠，而见宪未甞不正容，及归，罔然若有失也。其母问曰：「汝复从牛医儿来邪？」对曰：「良不见叔度，不自以为不及；旣覩其人，则瞻之在前，忽焉在后，论语颜回慕孔子之言也。固难得而测矣。」同郡陈蕃、周举常相谓曰：「时月之闲不见黄生，则鄙吝之萌复存乎心。」吝，贪也。及蕃为三公，临朝叹曰：「叔度若在，吾不敢先佩印绶矣。」太守王龚在郡，礼进贤达，多所降致，卒不能屈宪。郭林宗少游汝南，先过袁闳，不宿而退；进往从宪，累日方还。或以问林宗。郭泰别传曰：「时林宗过薛恭祖，恭祖问曰：『闻足不见袁奉高，车不停轨，銮不辍轭，从叔度乃弥信宿也？』」林宗曰：「奉高之器，譬诸氿滥，虽清而易挹。奉高，闳字也。尔雅曰：「侧出氿泉，正出滥泉。」氿音轨。滥音槛。叔度汪汪若千顷陂，澄之不清，淆之不浊，淆，混也。不可量也。」 |
