27  | 三百篇中，四言自是正體。然詩有一言；如緇衣篇「敝」字「還」字，可頓住作句是也。有二言：如「鱨鯊」、「祈父」、「肇」是也。有三言：如「螽斯羽」、「振振鷺」是也。有五言：如「誰謂雀無角」、「胡為乎泥中」是也。有六言：如「我姑酌彼金」、「嘉賓式燕以敖」是也。至「父曰嗟予子行役」、「以燕樂嘉賓之心」，則為七言。「我不敢人傚我友自逸」，則為八言。短以取勁，長以取妍，疏密錯綜，最是文章妙境。 |
