17  | ●癸未翰林 都中相传，癸未馆选，每人费至十万。从来馆选翰林掌院为政，而受裁于中堂，词林自矜所谓敝衙门、他衙门不得预忝者，此其所以高且贵也。至是而吏部与之，都察院与之，吏科与之，甚而东厂、锦衣亦与之，故其费至此。然十万之银，恐其难运，乃易以黄金一万两，皆山西璐紬绒货大商之物。欲得翰林者，请立票包管。至入选后，但付一单云「某衙门若干两」，而不知此皆闯贼所置，以钩饵吾人者也。闯贼破京城，百官畏缩不敢朝见，伪丞相牛金星曰：「他官不朝也罢，然翰林亦不朝，何也？」诸馆选茫然不解，既而乃知，向所谋馆选之物皆索偿也。彼时先帝亦知之，问阁臣曰：「外间金子踊贵。」阁臣愕然。上曰：「新翰林故。」嗟乎！贪滥至此，岂复成世界乎？又何尤乎非我族类者？ |
