《敘》
1  | 叙史統散而小說興。始乎周季，盛於唐，而浸淫於宋。韓非、列禦寇諸人，小說之祖也。《吳越春秋》等書，雖出炎漢，然秦火之後，著述猶希。迨開元以降，而文人之筆橫矣。若通俗演義，不知何昉？按南宋供奉局，有說話人，如今說書之流，其文必通俗，其作者莫可考。泥馬倦勤，以太上享天下之養，仁壽清暇，喜閱話本，命內璫日進一帙，當意，則以金錢厚酬。於是內璫輩廣求先代奇蹟及閭里新聞，倩人敷演進御，以怡天顏。然一覽輒置，卒多浮沉內庭，其傳佈民間者，什不一二耳。然如《翫江樓》、《雙魚墜記》等類，又皆鄙俚淺薄，齒牙弗馨焉。暨施、羅兩公，鼓吹胡元，而《三國志》、《水滸》、《平妖》諸傳，遂成巨觀。要以韞玉違時，銷鎔歲月，非龍見之日所暇也。 |
