| 2 | 臣等谨案：喻林》一百二十巻，明徐元太撰。元太字汝贤，宣城人。嘉靖乙丑进士，官至刑部尚书。是书以经史及诸子集中所载古人设喻之词，广徴博采彚为一编，分立十门。毎门又各分子目，凡五百八十馀类，歴二十馀年而成。复自加刋削而付之梓，用心颇为勤至。其引书各于条下注明出处，篇目次第，胪载无遗，亦逈异明人剽窃扯撏之陋习。特其自序，称閲书四百馀种，而检核书中所列篇籍，实不及其半，未免涉于夸张。又往往随手摭拾，不能得其根源。如儿说宋人善辨者一条，本出《韩非子》，周人有仕不遇者一条，本出王充《论衡》，而皆引作《艺文类聚》。又懐金至者至不生归一条，本出《后汉书》耿弇𫝊，而引作《文选》李善注。又头白可期汗青无日一条，本出《唐书》刘知几𫝊，而引作《事文类聚》。又天寒即飞鸟走兽，尚知相依一条，本出沈约所作《阮籍咏懐诗注》，而以为李善此类甚多，皆为失于疎畧。葢其学惟知以泛滥自矜奥博，而不能考核精详，故毎蹈舛漏之病。然自秦、汉以迄六朝，文人词赋，多以罕譬为工，恣肆汪洋，大都得力于此。元太是编，蒐罗极备，零玑断璧，均足为缀文者沾丐之资，犹为有禆艺苑以视坊本类书之丛杂，无章者固胜之逺矣。乾隆四十四年正月，恭校上。 |
