9  | 十一月，起大学士孙承宗以原官，兼兵部尚书，督兵驻通州。十五日，抵近郊，召见平台面陈方略，奏保总兵马世龙出狱效用。上允奏，赐茶入谢。上曰：「卿不须往通，劳卿为朕调护京城。」承旨而出，已漏下二十刻矣。周阅都城四十五里，五鼓而毕。阅重城，乘月而巡濠堑险阻。夜半，内阁传奉圣旨：「卿等，谕辅臣承宗，星驰通州料理，敕书随后补给。」夜宿重关，质明始闻。后命具揭，遵旨即行。次日，抵通州。总兵杨国栋以军礼见，承宗受之，曰：「吾以安众也，通州两城保镇京营，兵马相半。」命国栋兼统之。时袁崇焕被逮，关宁兵马尽溃，承宗密调马世龙抚谕之，又为祖大寿别白，上命移驻关门。十二月十四日抵关，人心乃定。大寿谒见，令所统骑步三万于教场行誓师礼，遣死士沿海入报，中朝始知关宁无恙。时因崇焕溃兵梗塞道路。 |
