41  | 閏三月初五日，奏摺恭謝天恩交部優敘。又奏景德鎮、浮梁案內保舉文員遵部議分晰開單聲明各員勞績一摺。十一日，會奏鄂皖軍情一折。又奏保小池口擊破援賊克復太湖潛山三案出力員弁開單請獎一折。十四日，作《何君殉難碑記》，立石於英山縣何文貞公殉難之處。二十二日，編《經史百家古文雜鈔》成，又約選四十八篇，以為簡本。公寄書家中，名其所居曰八本堂。其目曰：「讀書以訓詁為本，詩文以聲調為本，事親以得歡心為本，養生以少惱怒為本，立身以不妄語為本，居家以不晏起為本，居官以不要錢為本，行軍以不擾民為本。」二十六日，李元度來見公。公派令綜理宿松大營營務處。二十七日，公弟國荃到營。公令督勇攻安慶集賢關賊壘。左公宗棠自英山來見公。是月，賊攻陷江南大營，官軍潰走丹陽。張忠武公國梁陣亡，欽差大臣忠壯公和春受傷，卒於滸墅關。賊陷丹陽縣，攻常州府城。總督何桂清退走常熟，江浙戒嚴。詔令公傳旨荊州將軍都興阿馳赴江北，辦理軍務。 |
