23  | 洪武二十一年三月乙亥朔，太祖與侍臣觀史，因論田子方貧賤驕人之說。太祖曰：「富貴者固不可驕人，貧賤者又豈可驕人？夫驕，凶德也，富貴而驕人，則不足以得天下之士；貧賤而驕人，適足以取辱於已。要之君子當以恭敬為本。子方之言，抑揚太過，蓋有所激而言。」侍臣對曰：「誠如聖諭。」 |
| 24 | 辛巳，太祖召考試官陳宗順等坐武英門賜食，諭之曰：「今日觀《列子》鄰人竊鈇之事，因思人之信疑皆生於心，信心必出於忠厚，疑心必起於偏私。夫信其所好，疑其所惡，乃人之常情，是故不可不察也。君之於臣，好而信之，讒言雖至而不入，惡而疑之，毀謗不召而自來。茍能以大公至正之心處己待人，則自無獨信偏疑之私，其或反乎公道而不得好惡之正，未有不流于一偏者也。惟能好其所當好，惡其所當惡，信其所當信而疑其所可疑，則人無浸潤之讒、形似之責矣。」又論五性之德，太祖曰：「小忠非仁，小節非義，足恭非禮，苛察非智，諒而不貞，不可謂之信。」遂給紙筆，令諸儒撰疑信論。 |
