9  | 昇元七年，春正月，契丹使達羅千等二十七人來聘，獻馬三百。牟三萬五千。二月庚午。帝崩於昇元殿。年五十六。十一月壬寅。葬永陵。帝臨崩，謂齊王璟曰：德昌宮儲戎器金帛七百萬，汝守成業，宜善交鄰國以保社稷，吾服金石欲延年，反以速死，汝宜視以為戒。帝生長兵間，知民厭亂。在位七年。兵不妄動，境內賴以休息，性節儉，常躡蒲履。用鐵盆盎。暑月，寢殿施青葛帷，左右宮婢裁數人，服飾樸陋。建國始。即金陵怡所為宮。惟加鴟尾。設闌檻而已。終不改作。元宗為太子，欲得杉木作板障，有司以聞，帝曰：杉木固有之，但欲作戰艦，以竹作障可也。江淮間連年豐樂，兵食盈溢，群臣多請恢拓境土，帝歎息曰：吾少在軍旅，見兵之為民害深矣。誠不忍復言。使彼民安，吾民亦安矣。吳越國大火，焚其宮室帑藏兵甲幾盡。將帥皆言乘其弊可以得志。帝一切不聽。遣使厚持金幣唁之。仁厚恭儉，務在養民，有古賢主之風焉. |
