| 163 | 定難節度使、西平王趙德明，凡娶三姓：衛慕氏，生元昊；咩迷氏，生成遇、訛藏；屈懷氏，生成嵬。元昊小名嵬理，羌語謂惜為嵬。富貴為理。性凶鷙猜忍；圓面高準，長五尺餘；曉浮屠學，通蕃、漢文字，案上置法律書，常攜《野戰歌》、《太一金鑒訣》。忽引兵襲夜洛隔可汗王，破之，奪甘州。數諫德明無臣中國，德明輒戒之曰：「吾久用兵，終無益，徒自疲耳。吾族三十年衣錦綺衣，此宋天子恩，不可負也。」元昊曰：「衣皮毛，事畜牧，蕃姓所便。英雄之生，當王霸耳，何錦綺為！」既陷甘州，復舉兵攻拔西涼府。至是德明死，元昊繼立，延州以聞。詔輟視朝三日，贈太師、尚書令兼中書令，命度支員外郎朱昌符為祭奠使，賻絹甚厚。帝與皇太后為德明成服苑中，百官奉慰。 |
