成問于齊于生曰:上巳干名,抑為辰乎?齊于生曰:上為上旬,巳乃干名。古人卜日用干為凖,凡其數月,然後以辰。故三正建月,爰定子丑,四時分日,乃始甲乙,不觀之禮乎?上丁習舞,仲丁習樂,又不觀之,傳乎?上辛大雩,季辛又雩。其云上者,以上旬也。仲者,中旬季下旬也,其云丁辛,則以干也。蓋旬凖于十十干妃之日,有循環,干無遺數,所為可定以上也。若辰以十二為準,則惟月十二可以妃之,使以辰準日,則日有常旬,辰嬴二數,上難等矣。請遂言之,當其上旬朔在子丑,則此一旬乃無戌亥,假使上旬朔在午未,則此一旬已無辰巳,既無辰巳,上無巳矣。然必用巳巳在中旬,將名此巳為上巳乎抑中巳乎?是數之貿也。故沈約宋書》曰:自宋以後,但用三日,不復用巳,惡其貿也。故《風俗通》云:「巳者,祉也,惟巳可止,故用祓除。此為巳也。故《爾雅》稱巳月為則,月則亦止也。此篇出蔡州曹氏《月令考》。
