戴鱀字時重，鄞人。檟子正德丁丑進士，官刑曹，督獄見繫囚滯穢，令櫛沐以蘇癘，有方士能言，隂事多驗，卿相以下迎致恐，後獨心知其妖，檄召訊之，果挾採生術，遂寘之法，遷四川僉事，以忤時宰，奪職家居。八年，復起為河南僉事，㝷轉江西參議，陞副使、江西參政，復陞山西按察使，振飭憲典，官僚嚴之，有奄豎殺人匿宗室中，吏不敢向問，鱀即收捕付獄，聞者悚息。歴四川廵撫都御史，入蜀革煩苛，孜孜以保釐為計，所●諸部，雖羊腸鳥道，必輕車詣之，問民所疾苦，故老相傳，以為撫臣旌節，百年僅一睹見也。初，鱀家居，見河渠不飭，作《鄞人水利三叙》，見貪人利畨舶闌出無忌作海防䇿，其言皆鑿鑿不爽，鱀精於吏事，而負氣高亢，不俯首權貴，又不為同事所懽，故動見沮抑，不竟所施云。
