77  | 馬自強，字體乾，同州人。嘉靖中進士，授檢討，歴陞國子祭酒。首按士習為奸利者，取累朝訓典申明之，絶請托，抑躁競，日以正學迪諸生。神宗在東宫為講讀官，至登極，擢禮部右侍郎，充日講官，陞尚書，考定郊社、幸學、籍田諸典禮，宗藩繁衍諸請，名封婚禄，歳以千計，中多詭冒，宿猾交結諸藩，出入為奸，莫可究詰，強親為裁决，明示行止，由是諸掾𨽻無所索，公宇肅然。時張居正秉國，強黜其幕賔，權璫馮保私入求冠帶，不許，權貴望而畏之，未幾，進文淵閣大學士，甫月餘卒，贈少保，諡文莊。著有文集二十巻，自強為講官，穆廟語閣臣曰：「惟馬自強講，朕多省悟」。毎講退，輒稱善，入內閣，未乆，卒於位。公少讀書太華山，與二三交契，以道德文章相切磨，人以韓琦、范仲淹稱之，不竟其用，人於是有蒼生之憾 |
