47  | 戊午，鄆州言資政殿大學士、左僕射王曾卒，輟視朝二日，贈侍中，謚文正。曾姿質端厚，眉目如刻畵，盛服屹然入朝，進止有常處，平居寡言，自奉亷約，人莫敢干以私，其名重天下，少與楊億同在侍從，億喜詼諧，與曾言則曰：「余不敢以戯也」。前後輔政十年，其所進退士人，莫有知者，范仲淹嘗以問曾，曾曰：「夫執政者，恩欲歸已，怨使誰當？」仲淹服其言。先是，有大星墜其寢，左右驚白之，曾曰：「後一月當知」。及期，曾果卒。皇祐中，上為篆其墓碑曰「旌賢之碑」，後又改其鄉曰旌賢，大臣碑得賜篆，自曾始。己未，河北屯田司言，欲於石塜口𨗳百濟河水，以注縁邊塘泊，請免所經民田稅，從之，時嵗旱，塘水涸，知雄州葛懐敏慮契丹使至，測知其廣深，乃擁界河水注之，塘復如故。 |
