丁未，潁州進士常立為天平軍節度推官、崇文院校書。立秩之子。熈寧初，御史知雜謝景溫嘗薦其行義，召赴闕，以疾不赴，至是，特録之。　是夕，十月十九日丁未，彗不見，自始出至沒十二日。實録於此書云：彗不見初，乙未，冇星出軫，至丙申，長三尺。丁酉，長五尺，太史乃以彗聞。戊戍長七尺，斜指太轄，至是而没。己酉，王安石等上表，乞御正殿，復常膳，不許。表三上，乃許之。　詔在京遞馬頭子並樞宻院給之，以都水將作監遣屬官出外，或擅給故也。
